Our healthcare system is inconceivably messy and complex.
I’m on a mission to make healthcare suck a little bit less.
When approaching a problem, I open up my ever-expanding toolkit of methods and frameworks, set my sights on an approximate destination, and then let my curiosity take the lead. I feel most alive when learning about other people and untangling the complex systems that affect them. Design is never neutral, and inequity is intentional. That’s why I spend my days designing for better health.
My approach to design (and life) is something like getting lost with a purpose. When I use Google Maps, I rarely question why I’m being told to go one way and not the other. It’s the optimal route, right? But when I’m walking somewhere and have time to spare, I put my phone in my pocket and just go. While I know where I’m starting and ending up, I’m not all that interested in getting there as quickly as possible. I want to wander, take in my surroundings, discover new places, and stop a few times along the way.
